Day 1: Marrakech – Atlas Mountain – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorge

Day 2: Dades Gorge – Toudra Gorge – Merzouga desert

Day 3: Merzouga desert – Ouarzazate - Marrakech

Before you go

Visas & permits

Visas are not required for British, Australian, New Zealand, Canadian, US and other EU nationals for a stay of up to 3 months. Please ensure your passport is valid for six months after your return date and that you get your passport stamped upon entry into Morocco.

All other nationalities should contact the Moroccan embassy for details. Visas are your responsibilities so please don’t forget to check!

Vaccinations

It is recommended that you be vaccinated for Tetanus and Polio, if you haven’t had a booster in the last ten years. Food and waterborne diseases are more common, so we recommend vaccinations for typhoid (valid 3 years) and Hepatitis A (validity varies). Morocco is not a high risk malaria area but if in any doubt please consult a physician or travel clinic for further information.

MAD = Moroccan Dirham, rates are subject to fluctuation. Exchange facilities are available at various bureau de changes in major towns and most banks have ATMs. How much spending money is needed, depends largely on the individual. We currently recommend an average of USD $20 - $30 per day. We can’t specify every sundry cost however and you’ll need to allow for expenses such as drinks, snacks and the odd souvenir. Travellers Cheques can be difficult to change en route so we recommend you have cash for convenience and bring a card to use in the ATM’s—most accept Visa, MasterCard, Electron, Cirrus and Maestro. There are ATM’s at Marrakech airport, which you can use upon arrival.

Climate

Temperatures in Morocco are generally high, particularly during the summer months from May to September; October is still warm and bright so take sunscreen. However in the High Atlas and the Sahara it can get very cold and some peaks can remain snow capped from November to June.

Full itinerary

Day 1: Marrakech => Dades Gorges

Your Tour guide and the driver will meet you at your Hotel in Marrakesh. Depart for Dades Gorge. You will across the Atlas Mountain by the Tichka Pass at (2.260m), Scenic road, beautiful landscape with different colours, Berber villages along the way, First Big stop is to visit "the Ksar of Aït Ben Haddou" classified since 1987 by UNESCO as a human international patrimony. Many big movies were turned there lake Gladiator, Laurence of Arabia, kingdom of heaven, you will continue to Ouarzazate, to visit “Taourirt Kasbah” and have lunch. After Lunch we drive through Skoura palm grove and the Roses valley to Dades valley, you arrive to Dades Gorges around five pm, first night in comfortable hotel with Dinner and breakfast.

Day 2: Dades Gorges => Merzouga Dunes

After your breakfast, you visit the panoramic view of Dades Gorge. After you drive Back to Boumalen Dades and Tinghir, Visit Todra valley and Gorge, you will have time to walk with your guide on trek near the gardens and the great Oasis until the canyon of about 300m high, a preferred place by mountain climbers. Afterwards you will leave to Erfoud, there we stop for lunch, after lunch we drive to Merzouga, On your arrive to the Merzouga Dunes, Around 4 o’clock, you have short swim in the swimming pool in hotel, after you join the camels for a ride to your camp into the dunes, at the sunset to get in the camp, and you Spend the night in the luxury desert camp.

Day 3: Merzouga Dunes => Marrakech

Rise early this morning to witness the amazing sunrise over the Erg Chebbi sand dunes. After you return by camels to the Kasbah hotel for breakfast, and shower, you meet the driver, and you travel to Ouarzazate via Alnif, Tazarine and the Draa valley junction where we head north to Ouarzazate after crossing the small volcanic Atlas Mountains. Drive through the High Atlas Mountains and some amazing scenery you’ll arrive at Marrakech, your final destination where your driver will escort you to your accommodation before bidding you farewell.
